Youth Outlook Provides Services for LGBTQ+ Youth in Northern IL

Youth Outlook seeks candidates for two open part-time Program Leader positions working with LGBTQ+ youth at our Elmhurst Drop In Center and new Joliet/Lockport Drop In Center. The Elmhurst Program Leader must be available on Thursday evenings. The Joliet/Lockport Program Leader must be available Tuesday evenings. 

Program Leaders typically work 5-8 hours per week and are assigned primarily to the drop-in centers with occasional staff meetings, training and off-site community-based duties including community outreach on evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to planning and implementing programs for Youth Outlook’s drop-center, completing intakes and assuring the completion of all documentation, crisis management, facilitating community outreach and assisting/supporting other programming efforts that are operated through the drop in center (YLink, POL, Thrive, and Youth Leadership). 

Qualifications:

Completion of Youth Outlook training required. (Training begins at the end of March 2022.) Knowledge of adolescent development, LGBTQ+ communities, knowledge of HIV prevention and other health/ behavioral risks required. Excellent communication and organizational skills required. Consistent access to the internet is required. Social service experience and/or previous experience working with LGBTQ+ youth is preferred. Bilingual Spanish/English is desirable. BIPOC, transgender and non-binary and former group attendees are encouraged to apply.

Compensation:

Position starts at $15/hour. Benefits include paid vacation and sick time.
